During the day, there is increasingly often plenty of electricity from sun and wind in the Netherlands. But our electricity demand does not correspond sufficiently: our electricity demand still peaks in the morning and evening, when renewable generation is lower and fossil fuel power plants have to step in. This leads to sustainable energy being wasted (4,4 billion kWh curtailed in 2025) and more carbon intensive electricity production.
