1. Description of the Challenge

Be honest. When you have a paper due, where do you actually start? Not what you told your supervisor. Where you actually start.

We are one of the oldest academic publishers in the world and we are building something new: a research environment where primary sources, encyclopedias, journals and books sit in one place, and where you can ask it questions in your own words in the way that you also talk to AI.

You can choose a real research question, and we would like you to answer it twice, once with our prototype and once with whatever you would normally use. Then you tell us, to our faces, where ours fell apart.

2. Expected Outcome

We want the honest version. When the AI gives you a confident answer, what do you do next? Do you check it? Do you care? That is the question nobody in academic publishing has the nerve to ask, and it is the one we need answered before we build any further.

What you get: your hands on a product before it launches, the people building it in the room with you, and your recommendations going straight to the person who decides what gets made.
