Use of robotics in exploring the unkown
1. Description of the Challenge
How could people make the most out of a modular ecosystem information network?
- Investigate a scenario of people performing dull, dirty or dangerous jobs?
- What kind of sensory data would be required to increase effiency/safety?
- How would the proposed solution look like?
Keeping in mind the accessible and inituitive aspects.
Why is this challenge important?
Our robotics solution is built around acquiring additional information without taking extra risks, with the increased amount of information, better plans and decisions during complex situations. Going straight towards the identified object results in faster operations which in turn results in safer operations, because people are less exposed.
The future direction of Sita Robotics:
- Autonomous mapping (and monitoring) of an unknown area and accurately estimate the dangerous situation at safe distance.
- Why: Increase situation awareness and effectiveness
- How: Easy and accessible information
- What: Multiple robotic systems in information network
2. Expected Outcome
In addition to the outcomes which Sita Robotics can use for further development of their system, we want the new students to experience the start-up environment in the Brainport region and feel welcome.
TMC and Sita Robotics are an example of how collaboration in high-tech environments result in solutions for problems in our society. Master students are welcome to join TMC for internships, a thesis and traineeships, allowing them to experience a start-up environment while working at a large corporation, for instance, via Sita Robotics. Therefore, we like to present our corporations to the upcoming talents at TU/e so they get become familiar with our business for their future career.
